There’s a new free EQ plugin making the rounds called The Trick by Mouse Plugins, and it’s one of those tools that feels a bit different from the usual “clean digital EQ” approach.
Instead of mimicking curves or using impulse responses, this plugin is built more like an actual analog circuit. It models a passive EQ design using a circuit-style structure, which means the behavior comes from how the components interact rather than just shaping frequencies on a graph.
What makes it interesting—and gives it its name—is the classic boost-and-cut move. There’s also some built-in coloration going on. Even with the EQ controls flat, the signal still passes through modeled tube and transformer stages.
Let me know what you think of this plugin.
