UB DSP has just released Vowel Blender, a creative formant-filter effect that takes a different approach to vowel processing. Instead of relying on preset vowel morphs and static controls, the plugin lets you explore vowel sounds through an interactive XY pad, turning formant filtering into something that feels much more hands-on.
What immediately stands out is how performance-focused the workflow is. You can move through different vowel positions in real time, record those movements, and loop them in sync with your project. Whether you’re working on synths, basses, drums, or experimental sound design, it’s easy to create evolving vocal-like textures without diving into complex automation.
The plugin also includes multiple voice models and a flexible modulation system, making it possible to push sounds from subtle vocal coloration all the way into more abstract territory. Rather than trying to emulate a traditional vocoder or talkbox, Vowel Blender focuses on shaping the character of a sound through dynamic formant movement.
Let me know what you think about this new plugin.
