Impact Soundworks has unveiled Super Audio Cart 2, the long-awaited successor to its popular retro game instrument, bringing together an extensive collection of authentic video game sounds spanning more than three decades of gaming history.
Designed for the free Kontakt Player, the library combines faithfully recreated console and hardware sounds with a deep synthesis engine for modern music production.
The library features over 6,000 sound sources sampled and recreated from 19 classic gaming platforms and sound chips, including favorites like the NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo 64, PlayStation, and more.
Rather than extracting sounds from existing games, Impact Soundworks painstakingly rebuilt the instruments from scratch and, where appropriate, played them back through original hardware to preserve the character of each system.
Beyond nostalgic bleeps and bloops, Super Audio Cart 2 includes everything from iconic synths and orchestral sounds to classic PCM instruments, all powered by a flexible four-layer engine with advanced modulation, sequencing, filters, and effects.
