Analog Obsession just released a brand new free plugin called TheBus, and it’s exactly the kind of no-nonsense tool I love from this developer. It’s a custom analog-style compressor designed for bus duties rather than emulating any specific piece of hardware.
Right out of the gate, it delivers a smooth, soft-knee character with a linear frequency response that works beautifully on drums, percussion, and full mixes needing a touch of glue.
Instead of overwhelming users with endless controls, TheBus keeps things refreshingly simple. Attack and release are limited to three carefully chosen settings each, making it easy to dial in a sound quickly without getting lost in tiny timing adjustments.
