Just stumbled across a cool new release from fedDSP called SHI — a frequency-focused saturation plugin that’s currently free for a limited time (until March 31st, 2026). After that, it jumps to its regular price of £30.
At its core, SHI is a saturation plugin, but it does something a bit more interesting than your typical “drive everything” approach. Instead of processing the entire signal, it lets you focus the saturation on a specific frequency range. That alone makes it surprisingly useful in a mix, especially when you want to add character without muddying everything else.
SHI takes inspiration from the way vintage hardware handles signals—specifically focusing on the “imperfections” that make old recordings sound so warm.
