Dealing with piercing sibilance can turn an otherwise great vocal mix into an exhausting chore. Fortunately, developer No Work On Monday has introduced Sssh, a streamlined, zero-cost de-esser designed to remove harsh high-frequency spikes quickly and without unnecessary complications.
Sssh comes for both Mac and Windows, and right now it’s completely free (normally $39).
Instead of throwing a complicated collection of controls at you, the plugin focuses on a small set of parameters designed to help you quickly find and tame unwanted sibilance.
For more aggressive problems, Sssh includes a Heavy Mode, while its standard operation is designed to keep the vocal sounding natural and upfront.
