If you’re always on the lookout for fresh tools to shape your mixes, there’s a new free effect worth checking out. Analog Obsession has just released RazorClip, a clipper-style plugin that brings some analog-flavored saturation and edge to your tracks — and it won’t cost you a dime. At its heart, RazorClip is all about clipping — that process of gently (or not-so-gently) rounding off peaks to add harmonics and grit.
What makes it interesting is that it gives you five different clipping models inspired by classic analog circuits, from tape and transformer-like behavior to transistor, tube, and diode characteristics. That variety means you can dial in everything from warm, smooth saturation to more aggressive harmonic distortion.
Let me know what you think of this plugin.
