Bogren Digital just dropped two fresh additions to their AmpKnob lineup, called Über Metal and if you’re into heavy tones that sit right in the mix, these are worth checking out. Both plugins are designed around real high-gain amplifiers that have become studio staples — meticulously captured and tuned by producer Jens Bogren for a vibe that’s instantly usable without hours of tweaking.
First up is AmpKnob BH4, inspired by a modern metal workhorse (Diezel vh4) known for its thick, articulate distortion and tight low end. It nails that signature chunky rhythm sound while still remaining clear under saturation — ideal for palm-muted riffs or searing leads.
On the other side, AmpKnob BDE 120 channels a classic high-watt 120-series amplifier (Engl Savage) with a reputation for aggressive attack and massive low-end punch. This one leans into big, heavy tones that sit right at home in extreme metal and djent contexts.
