Neural Dsp released some days ago the Archetype Petrucci, a full suite of plugins and guitar amp sims that has the full signal chain that Mr. John Petrucci uses with Dream Theater and other projects.
Since i am a HUGE John Petrucci fan & also a bit crazy, I went ahead and look for free vst plugins that might get you closer to his guitar tone & also created some impulse responses for the job that you can get fully free.
In this video I check out the features of the archetype petrucci, playthrough it, I explain and play through the free signal chain & demo everything in a full mix.
