Pulsar Audio just dropped DigiTape, a free plugin that captures the vibe of those early-2000s digital tape emulations.
Back when computers were far less powerful, clever engineers had to get creative to approximate the feel of analog tape.
DigiTape brings two of those distinctive approaches together in one lightweight tool. The plugin offers two modes.
Contour focuses on the high end: it pushes the top frequencies into saturation first, then rebalances the tone so you get rounded transients and a compressed, smoother top end.
Grain works the opposite way—saturating the lows and mids while letting the resulting harmonics add bite and texture up top.
It’s aimed at adding body, density, and that recognizable early-digital character to drums, vocals, guitars, or full mixes.
